Viva Support: Unpacking Viva

Unpacking Viva

If you purchased Viva from an in-world store, all the files will be packaged. You'll need to unpack it, along with several other sub-packages found within it. (If you purchased it from the Marketplace, the unpacking has been done already and you don't have to worry about the following.")

Note that the names shown in the illustrations below are for the Full Featured (Level 3) Version. If you purchased the "Free" (Level 1) or the "Lite" (Level 2) version, the names will be similiar, except either "Free" or "Lite" will appear instead of "Full Featured."

Unpacking: First StepsIt's easiest if you click on the "Recent" tab in your Inventory. Everything that is created during unpacking will show up there and you won't have to deal lots of folders. If you recently purchased it, the Viva package name "Viva - Full Featured Mesh Avatar" OR "Viva - Mesh Avatar - Lite Version" will show up under "Recent."

If it's been a while since you purchased Viva, you'll need to look for it under the "Inventory" tab instead of "Recent." Look for the following object: "Viva - Full Featured Mesh Avatar (Wear Me to Unpack)" OR "Viva - Mesh Avatar - Lite Version (Wear Me to Unpack)." Once you get started with the process below, all the newly created files will show up under the "Recent" tab, and you'll want to switch to that tab.

Whether it's in "Inventory" or "Recent," right click on "Viva - Full Featured Mesh Avatar," (0r Lite Version) and select "Wear." Instead of watching your avatar, watch for a Second Life message on the upper right hand of your screen.

The message will say that you've been given a folder (illustrated to the right). If you're using the Second Life viewer, click the "Keep" button. If you're using the FireFox viewer, click the "Accept" button.

Unpack the Subfolders

Now look under the "Recent" tab in your inventory, and you will see the following new folder:

VIVA>> Full Featured Mesh Avatar - MAIN FOLDER

OR

VIVA>> Mesh Avatar - MAIN FOLDER - Lite Version

Open the folder by clicking the little arrow beside it. When you look inside the folder, you'll see a series of entries that have one asterisk (*) in front of them. They look like: *Sub Folders... (shown to the right.) These are objects that have not yet been unpacked.

To unpack these, WEAR each of the *Sub Folder packages, and they will automatically unpack. Remember to watch the upper right of your screen and click on the "Keep"or "Accept" button as you unpack each.

After you wear each, you'll end up with a series of Viva SubFolders in your inventory (shown below). They all start with "Viva:" or "Viva Lite:" which keeps them together. (The Lite version has a few less subfolders.)Drag in Subfolders

Click the arrow beside the Main Folder (VIVA>> Full Featured Mesh Avatar) to close the folder. Closing the Main folder will help simply things by reducing the clutter on the Inventory screen.

Now, grab one of the subfolders (circled in red) and drag it into the Main Folder (underlined in yellow).

Then drag the next one into the Main Folder. Continue dragging, one at a time, until all the subfolders are in Viva's main folder.

Subfolders Can be Deleted

When you finish dragging all of the subfolders, open the Main Folder so you can see its contents. In the Main Folder, you'll see each of the subfolders (all of which start with "Viva: ") are now in the Main Folder. That's where we want the subfolders so everything you need for Viva is all located in one place.

We, however, no longer need the unpacked subfolder objects. Highlight all items that start with *Subfolder (as shown to right). Right click and select "Delete."

Don't worry. You won't lose anything. If you ever need to rebuild your Viva main folder, you'll still have copy of everything in the original package.

That's it with unpacking! Now that your Viva folder is all ready, you can get started with the fun stuff.
